Ok, thanks to confirm that it was a bug. I started to being mad by installing again & again images on SD, checking all the config files in order to find my mistake.
You saved my mental health. 😀

You said we should use the xxx from /var/lib/bluetooth/xxx/config for the set class line. But the value from that directory is six hex pairs. Which ones do we use?

I know this thread has been inactive for a few months but I would really appreciate some assistance if available.

I’m having the issue with the D-Pad not working in game. I’m using a wired Xbox 360 controller and have the latest version of Retropie 3 Beta. I tried Floob’s fix but when I type /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/cfg to fix this issue I get

-bash: /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg: Permission Denied

What do? Is there a definitive fix for this problem?

You need to open the config file from within your MAC address folder and use the value from the class line. I just used xxx as the folder name since everyone’s MAC address is different. I guess the more accurate folder name example would be xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. The folder name is irrelevant though, you want the class value from the config file.

If you are using RetroPie 3 beta 4, and the config via Emulation Station isnt working for you, try removing the files here

“cd /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads”
Then you can see whats there with “ls”
You can delete them all
“rm *.cfg”

Then recreate by running the retropie-setup script and choosing the register retroarch joypad option.

GAMECON PSX CONTROLLER ISSUE

So I’ve got everything working fine.

I have my set psx_delay to 25. I’ve tried other values and it would cause the gamepad to twitch out in the Emulation Station menus.

No matter what I do, the jstest always reads the left analog stick flickering UP+LEFT. This causes the characters to jump and aim UP+LEFT in Contra (NES) but it does not do it in any other game (sometimes in NeoGeo, Metal Slug).

I have a PSX controller with the analog sticks and without, it doesn’t make a difference which one is plugged in, although sometimes I have to press the ANALOG button (on) so it will read the controller, and sometimes it doesn’t.

Sometimes the controllers work normally and sometimes they don’t. I really have no idea what is going on.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is tested on RetroPie 2.6 and Retropie 3.0 Beta 4. Same issues.

I’ve checked my wiring countless times.

Awesome, thanks! I assume setup of n64 on arcade will always be limited, because you have fewer buttons and joysticks than on the n64 controller?

I never really used the original n64, anyone know which controls are least likely to be used in a game like mario64, I.e. which we could leave out of the key mapping and still start and play the game?

Bruce,

The controls I provided are the most used, along with the Z-button and the D-pad which I have yet configured.

Jonathan

Game Specific Configs

Evening all,

Currently running Retropie 2.6 on PI 2, mainly for SNES games using an iBuffalo Classic USB Gamepad.

Few niggles here and there but after updating some configs etc all going swimmingly.

However, is there any way to run the controller configs for specific games/roms? The only game I currently have control issues with is Super Mario All Stars, it works fine right up until you start to play and then nothing……

I have a feeling I know the answer, but I thought I would ask anyway!

Cheers

I’m having trouble getting the default psx emulator to recognize the analogue sticks on my 710 but it recognizes the d-pad and all other buttons. I configured it though emulationstation in D-input mode, with the mode button off (so the green LED next to the mode button is off). No other configuration seemed to register correctly.

Edit to add: If you’re not getting any response from the F710 in the psx emulator, try these tips.

Configuring standard keyboard

Hi all, I’m new to retropie so hope you can help here?

I’ve spent ages trawling the internet looking for instructions on how to configure a standard keyboard for use as my controller in the emulators. I can find loads of stuff on how to configure USB snes, Xbox etc. controllers but nothing on a keyboard. I have tried setting it up with the guides using joyconfig but it doesn’t seem to recognise the keyboard as a controller therefore I cannot map the keys. I know in retropie 3.0 you can configure the keyboard keys in emulation station itself however I’m using version 2.6 (I rolled back to this as I found 3.0 a bit buggy with my Roms). Just for your info I’m running retropie from the petrockblog image and I’m using a raspberry pi 2. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

With retropie 3.0 there is an option in the retropie menu to configure retroarch controls (I haven’t had any issues with my ROMs), one of them is to configure the keyboard. Its pretty self explanatory. By default the keyboard just works anyhow- arrow keys are the Dpad, x is a… Etc. You should also just be able to change the retroarch.cfg file manually if you want different keys to be used depending on which emulator you are using.
